Increase Your Twitter Followers – 7 Ways To Get And 3 Ways To Keep

In most places in the world I have been to, someone following you typically is a bad thing..
But on twitter being followed is brilliant!
Shocking truths@! click here to read about why being followed is so dang brilliant!
ok so..
I have scoped out the web and it seems there are some sweet strategies to get more followers.
Here are my top 7
1. Decide on your ‘audience’. [the people that will follow you]
- What topics you want to share/know more about.
- aka what you are an expert/will be an expert in..
2. Follow big twits of your topic and their followers. [big twits = 5000+ followers]
- You will start to build your own twit community.
- About 30%of people you follow will start following you.
- Other people will follow the big twits, and their followers… that’s you :)
- Find your big twits at wefollow.com
3. Be a useful twitterer.
- We don’t care about what you’re eating or if you have showered yet..
4. Post links that might be interesting to others.
- Make sure people know what they are linking to.
5. Tweet regularly but don’t clutter.
- Too many tweets will dilute the effect of any good tweets.
6. Write some articles about your topic and link to your twitter..
- This will help give you a more defined group of followers.
7. Start a blog and link to your twitter profile (Here’s mine).
- Then you can tweet about your blogs and people who follow you will actually be interested..
3 Ways to keep Followers
1. Follow the tips above
2. Don’t be a robot, be a person.
- People communicate with others and build relationships…
3. Follow those who follow you
- We all want 2-way communication right?
See you on twitter

Keeping followers depends on who you are..if you're a celebrity you could talk about dog poop and still keep followers..but for the average joe..not so much.

very good tips–however, not everyone that follows you, you necessarily want to follow back–especially if these folks like to clutter!

I agree with not tweeting too much, those that do I often un-follow, they need to get a life, or stop using the auto-pilot techy tools, be real please!

I use auto schedule tweets so that I can send interesting topic out one at a time instead of spamming your twitter stream. Other than that I like to be real! ha If you want to schedule your tweets check out Tweet Later.

I want to increase my number of followers. I"m willing to follow all of them in return, but I don't want to just randomly add people. Besides searching for people by keyword, does anyone have a faster way to do it?

Agree with you on the don't clutter thing
Was following a chap who tweeted about everything. I'd log in and my home page would be full of tweets by him. Soon stopped following him

You should target two types of individuals for your account. Individuals who are following cleaning-based Twitter accounts (offering cleaning advice) and Twitter accounts focused on your particular region.

“Don’t be a robot, be a person.” Excellent advice.
While it is Ok to schedule tweets and automate some of your processes, it is not Ok to just shotgun your tweets to everyone and everywhere.
